AEVINI
Privacy Policy
Effective July 2026 · Last updated 10 July 2026
Plain-English summary. Aevini stores your account, your household, and the shows you're watching — because that's the app. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads against it, we don't share it with anyone who isn't part of your household or a service we need to run the app. If you'd like it deleted, email us.
1. Who runs Aevini
Aevini is a household TV show tracking app, operated out of the United States. Where this policy uses "we," "us," or "Aevini," it refers to that operator. For any privacy question or request, contact hello@aevini.com.
2. What we collect
Information you provide directly
- Account details: email address, a password (stored hashed, we never see the plaintext), first and last name (last name optional), and a display name shown to other household members.
- Household information: household name (optional), invite code, and the members you connect with. If you join a household by code, we associate your account with that household.
- Show tracking: which TV shows you add, what season and episode you're currently on, when you marked episodes watched, and your ratings or reactions to episodes and seasons.
- Preferences: your streaming region, streaming services you subscribe to, notification preferences, display preferences (theme, list view), and similar app settings.
- Recommendations between households: shows you send to or receive from connected households ("Neighbours"), including any optional note you attach.
Information collected automatically
- Authentication metadata: when you sign in, our authentication provider (Supabase) records the time and the auth session token. This is standard for keeping you signed in.
- Device push token (iOS app only): if you enable notifications, Apple provides us a device push token so we can send you notifications about new episodes or activity in your household. This token identifies your device to Apple's push service, not you personally.
- Basic technical logs from our hosting provider (Netlify) and backend (Supabase) — IP addresses, request timing, error traces. These are used to keep the app running and diagnose problems, not to profile you.
What we do NOT collect
- We do not use analytics services that build behavioural profiles of you (no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no ad-tech SDKs).
- We do not access your contacts, camera, microphone, location, health data, or files on your device.
- We do not run advertising in Aevini and do not build advertising profiles.
- The iOS app does not use your Apple ID beyond the standard App Store install and TestFlight distribution flow.
3. How we use your information
- To run the app. Store your shows, sync progress across your devices and your household, send you push notifications you've opted into, and let you send recommendations to connected households.
- To improve the app. Aggregate signals like "how often does anyone tap this button" help us fix bugs and prioritise work. We don't need to identify you to do this.
- To communicate with you about the service — for example, if you email hello@aevini.com, we'll reply.
We never sell your personal information. We never share it with advertisers or data brokers. We never trade it.
4. Who your data is shared with
The only people who see your Aevini data are:
- Other members of your household. They see what you add, what you're watching, your ratings, and your reactions. That's the point of the app — one shared queue.
- Neighbouring households you've connected with. They see shows you explicitly send them as recommendations. They see joint progress on any show you've set up as "Watch Together." They do not see the rest of your household's activity.
The infrastructure providers that make Aevini work handle your data on our behalf under their own privacy agreements. They do not use your data for their own purposes:
- Supabase — hosts our database and handles authentication.
- Netlify — hosts the web version of Aevini and serves this policy page.
- Apple Push Notification Service — delivers push notifications to your device (iOS only).
- The Movie Database (TMDB) — public API that provides show metadata (posters, episode lists, air dates). We send show IDs to TMDB; we never send your personal information.
- Trakt — public API that provides related-show recommendations. We use an app-level API key for this and never send your personal information.
We may disclose your information if we're legally required to (for example, a valid court order or subpoena). If that ever happens, we'll notify you unless the law prohibits us.
5. Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we delete your profile, watch history, ratings, and personal settings within 30 days. Anonymised aggregate data (e.g. total episode counts across all users) may be retained.
If your household is shared, deleting your account removes your contributions from the household but does not delete the household itself unless you're the last member.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have rights over the personal information Aevini holds about you. These include:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to fix inaccurate data. Most of this you can do yourself in the app (Settings).
- Deletion — ask us to delete your account and associated data.
- Portability — request an export of your data in a machine-readable format.
- Objection — object to how we process your data.
To exercise any of these, email hello@aevini.com from the address on your account. We aim to respond within 30 days.
EU / UK users: Aevini's operator is the data controller for your information under the GDPR and UK GDPR. Legal bases for processing include contract (running the service you signed up for), legitimate interests (keeping the app working, preventing abuse), and consent (for optional notifications). You may complain to your national data protection authority.
California users: Under the CCPA, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, and to opt out of any sale. We do not sell personal information.
7. Children
Aevini is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
8. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your data: passwords are hashed before storage, connections use HTTPS/TLS, database access is authenticated and row-level restricted so that other households can't see your data. No system is perfectly secure — if we ever have a data incident that affects you, we'll notify you promptly and disclose what happened.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top and, where changes are significant, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of Aevini after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
10. Contact
Privacy questions, data requests, or anything else: hello@aevini.com.
